As a fully qualified lecturer I realise that daily stress in school, or in
higher education can have an impact on a child or young adults health and
wellbeing.
Children can benefit from yoga just as much as adults; techniques taught in Yoga
are an excellent way to improve a child's strength and flexibilty. Yoga
can also help to develop attention and concentration skills but in a fun way.
When delivering a children's workshop we normally use a theme; a well known
story or rhyme that we can put different movements to. Its a great way for
children to engage and really captures their imaginations. We also promote team
work, children love pairing up to create certain postures.
The Key Benefits for children are:
- Helps to develop attentiveness and concentration
|
- Learn about a healthy diet
|
- Learn more quickly with the Yogic breath technique
|
- Become more flexible, build self esteem and confidence
|
- Yogic breathing helps balance the cortexes in the brain and promotes effective
learning
|
- But most importantly they have FUN!

Secondary School students also benefit from the classes I run, particularly as I
include stress management which has proven popular to GCSE and A Level students.
I currently run yoga classes in Upton Hall Convent Grammar School, Wirral Met
College and Birkenhead Sixth Form College.
